What is your favorite item in your workspace?
Easy, my kids’ art gallery. With four kids there was a never ending supply of “art” coming home from school. I decided to frame some of my favourites and create my own personal art gallery. It’s always a great conversation starter on Zoom calls with new clients. My sister (a tattoo artist) loved the Chewbacca drawing so much she had it tattooed on her.
How do you spark creativity?
I go outside. Our house backs onto a protected green space with lots of walking trails. It’s a great place to get some fresh air and fresh ideas. In the summer there’s a pool (just out of view) which is the perfect way to get away from “the office” quickly. In the winter I’m always ready to jump in the car and go snowboarding for a few hours to do a reset and clear my mind.
How do you keep the work-life balance with so many projects going on at once?
I try to leave work in my office once I go back into the main house and I stick to a 9 - 5 work schedule. With a wife, four kids and a dog there’s an endless supply of noise in the background which helps me to remember what is really important and what I’m working for (spoiler alert … it’s not the work).
